Design is 50% of the battle.
"Sound is 50 percent of the moviegoing experience."
— George Lucas
We rarely watch movies just for the sound. Still, George Lucas had a point. The director, producer, actors, and editors are all frequently thought of far before the sound designer comes to mind.
But, what they do for the movie transforms it from a video you spectate to an experience you become engulfed in.
Development is Design.
I am a backend developer. The ability to choregraph these intricate systems from concept to reality is a blessing. One I am thankful for daily.
I am both a designer and choreographer.
I craft the dance that makes your messaging platform come alive. By the stroke of my pen the systems weave and bob, all performing in perfect harmony. Each individual component a part of this beautiful dance.
And yet nobody sees it.
Nobody sees the dance I orchestrated.
And that's alright.
My craft is an art. An art that takes knowledge to appreciate. And although that art is locked behind digital walls, it's still there.
In the box the dance continues, all in harmony. All dancers spinning, twirling, and weaving without fail. Perfectly.
Design is essential.
My wonderfully orchestrated box is just a box. Four walls, a floor, and a ceiling. The breathtaking dance taking place inside is hidden by the bland and bleak exterior.
Enter, the designer.
They see the dance, they see the box, and they have the vision. A window here, a door there, this to the left and that to the right.
After enough time, this box is no longer just a box.
Our designer has transformed this plain cube into a breathakingly beautiful piece of art showcasing in all its glory the well orchestrated dance taking place inside.
Had our friend not decorated, we would know nothing but a plain white box.
"The designer transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary. The raw will to turn a vision into an emotional art installation is breathtaking."

So that my friends is the 50/50 partnership.
My orchestrated box has been transformed into a beautiful art installation.
Our designer friend has created a masterpiece, but in a way that wouldn't be possibly without the box.
